SIDIS was founded in 2004 by Nigel Ferrey. As an idea originally sketched on a napkin in a coffee shop in Fort Collins CO, the Company was entrepreneurial from its inception. With a small group of investors, SIDIS quickly became a platform for building and supporting innovative ventures, primarily in life sciences and medical technologies.

Separately, FR Companies was founded in 2010, also a ‘back-of-the-napkin’ concept, by Devin Ferrey and Andrew Rauch. Starting in residential remodels and rental properties, FR became a regional presence in home building and land development in northern Colorado.

Following a very successful exit from its first major investment, SIDIS joined forces with FR Companies in 2021. This partnership brought together a wide-ranging portfolio including medical devices, life science technologies, residential and commercial real estate, and franchise restaurants, all underpinned by the shared core values of partnership, discipline and accountability.
